• Flameproof Enclosure (Ex d): The box should conform to the IEC 60079-1 standard for flameproof enclosures, ensuring that any explosion or arc inside the box is contained, preventing ignition of surrounding gases or vapors.
• Certification: Must be certified for hazardous areas, such as CMIRF or PESO, and classified for use in specific zones (e.g., Zone 1, Zone 2 for gases or Zone 21, Zone 22 for dust).

• Dimensions: Junction boxes come in various sizes, with typical dimensions ranging from 100mm x 100mm x 70mm to larger sizes depending on the application.
• Mounting Options: Typically wall-mountable with pre-drilled holes or brackets for easy installation. Some boxes may have a top-hat rail mounting option.

8. Markings and Labels:

• Hazardous Area Classification: The enclosure should have clear markings indicating the certification for hazardous areas, e.g., Ex d IIB T5 or similar, as per the relevant standard.

• IECEx (International): Certification for explosion-proof equipment.
